Up with the birds

We have had drizzley rain here for the last 4 days, finally woke to a dry day so I was up and off by 6.30 to hit a local school. An hour's hunting around the edge of the grass amongst the trees produced this little lot. I have only had one pre decimal penny from this school before and I was convinced that where there is copper there must be silver..........and sure enough there was! All the pennys are English strangely enough, a 1913,1916,1936 and a '36 1/2 penny.

  2. That silver florin is really clean. Do you have a secret cleaning method or are they popping up that way?

  3. Ash, the camera is a Fugifilm 10.2 mega pixel. I use the macro feature for most of the shots. Got it from Dick Smiths a couple of years ago for $200.It does video too....

Chris, this florin came out pretty clean, it was only 25mm deep in sandy soil. I gave it a quick rub with a paste of baking soda and water, this will clean all but the nastiest of tarnish from most silver coins.
