A mixed bag today.........

The results of 2 hunts today, the first at a park out of town looking for the older stuff. The pennys and most of the old decimal from there. The cut penny is a 1951 Aussie, 2 of the others are British and only 1 Kiwi. On the way home we stopped at the "Goldmine" and picked up the goldies and the (junk) jewellery. All in all a most satisfying day hunting.

Goldmine totals to date........

Bloody awful weather here this weekend, we did, however manage a couple of hours this afternoon at the "Goldmine". Not dissapointed, 61 coins in total with $43 in spending. Just did a tally for the last months hunting this park.............$407 in goldies alone, not to mention the 8g 18ct ring, several pieces of silver jewellery, a dozen or so pre decimals and 1/2 a kilo of old decimal for the retirement fund. It just keeps giving and giving.

Honking Great GOLD Ring!

This is why "The Goldmine" is called just that. I knew that sooner or later it would give up more than just gold coloured coins. The ring is 18ct, weighs in at 8 grams and was only about 2" deep. It registered 51 both ways on the F4. Boy oh boy, am I doing the happy dance right now! As it is engraved inside with a first name and a date I will, of course try to locate the owner. Made my day! Got some spending and pre decimals too boot............What more could you ask for a 1 1/2 hr hunt.

Quick hunt before dark this evening........

Managed to liberate another $28 in goldies from the goldmine tonight along with a nice silver ring and what looks like a Lamborghini. Not sure what the brass object is, and the mag light was a bonus.

4 Silvers Today

Hit the same park we hunted last weekend, after a slow start with what seemed like a ton of 1 & 2c pieces we finally hit some goodies. The silver fob watch bezel was a bonus, I thought it was a bit of junk when it came out but it is indeed marked Stg 925. As you can see, plenty of old decimal and only a couple of other pre decimal coins. The '47 3d was lying on top of one of the shillings, came up as a pull tab bouncing to a penny signal.........nearly didn't dig that one! Anyway a most productive hunt with 50 coins all up and a nice bit of silver to boot.

Another park........more silver!

No rain today, so this afternoon we headed to a park out of town that we have been to a few times before and had some luck. We have had a few pennys and the odd silver out of here on past visits, so I thought it was worth another try, as I seem to be able to "home in" on those smaller signals amongst the trash now I have more experience. As it turns out, it was worth the drive, 36 coins, 6 silvers and the most mower cut pieces of coin from one spot in one hunt. Included were the 1920 Aussie penny, a nice button and the cut penny is a young head Vicky 1884.

The "Goldies" keep coming.....

Making hay while the sun shines.............the weather forecast down this way is for rain, rain and more rain over the next week or so. So that meant back to the goldmine this evening again for another goldie hunt. We are happy with the results, 48 coins in a couple of hours including $22.20 in spending. The bracelet turned out to be junk but it had us going for a while.
